Walpole Island First Nation officials have announced some changes to the Walpole-Algonac Ferry.
On Saturday, February 11, 2023 Walpole Island officials posted on social media that the ferry is now open seven days a week, weather pending, with the first boat leaving Canada each say at 6:30 a.m. and the last boat leaving the United States at 10 p.m.
On Friday, February 10, 2023 Walpole Island officials posted on social media regarding the ferry board and its shareholders.
“During the duly convened Emergency Shareholders Meeting on February 7, 2023, it was decided by the Shareholders that they approve to dissolve the full Ferry Board,” a media release from the Council of Three Fires indicated.
“A management team has been put in place until a new Ferry Board and Trustee are selected.”
