Freezing drizzle advisory issued, freezing rain warning ends

A freezing drizzle advisory was issued in Chatham-Kent overnight, while the freezing rain warning has ended.

“Areas of freezing drizzle this morning… periods of freezing drizzle with icy and slippery conditions,” Environment Canada officials said at 2:07 a.m.

The freezing drizzle is expected through the morning.

“Freezing rain and ice pellets have tapered off; however, temperatures are still near the freezing mark and periods of freezing drizzle are expected through this morning,” forecasters say.

“Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Freezing drizzle can produce thin, hard-to-detect layers of ice. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Freezing drizzle advisories are issued when drizzle falling in sub-zero temperatures is expected to freeze on contact, and over time create icy surfaces.”
