School buses cancelled in all zones due to the weather conditions

Schools buses in all zones are cancelled today, Thursday, February 23, 2023, due to the conditions.

Lambton-Kent District School Board officials say due to power outages in the area and the estimated time of restoration, Harwich-Raleigh Public School, Merlin Area Public School, W.J. Baird Public School and Wheatley Area Public School will be closed to students for the day.

“All other elementary schools are open to students,” public school board officials say.

“Due to power outages in the area, Blenheim District High School will also be closed to students and students will not transition to virtual learning. All other Lambton Kent District School Board secondary students, regardless of whether they ride a bus to school or not, will engage in one-day remote, teacher-led virtual learning today (Feb. 23) and the secondary schools will be closed to students for in-person learning.”

Lambton-Kent District School Board officials say all secondary teachers have been asked to develop an online presence to facilitate student learning.

“On bus cancellation dates, secondary students will receive instructions about their transition to remote, teacher-led virtual learning as per their typical means of communication,” public school board officials say.

“If parents/guardians have a specific question about their child, please contact their school principal.”

St. Clair Catholic District School Board officials say St. Anne Catholic School in Blenheim is closed due to a power outage.

“Please be advised that St. Michael Catholic School in Ridgetown will close for today due to a power outage,” Catholic School Board officials say.

“Although temporarily restored this morning after an earlier outage, the power currently remains out. Entegrus reports the cause and expected time of restoration are not known. Due to the power outage, voluntary remote learning will not  be available today.”

“All other St. Clair Catholic schools and offices are open,” Catholic school board officials added.

“Teachers at all schools, except where impacted by power outages, will be available through their learning management systems to provide asynchronous learning for any students who are unable to attend school and who wish to participate.”

Wallaceburg Christian School is closed for the day, due to the weather conditions.
