“Today’s opening of Wallaceburg’s Medical Daycare space reaffirms our commitment to our Mission of One Team – Two Sites: Serving Chatham & Rural Kent,” said Lori Marshall, President and CEO, in a media release on Thursday.

“We are another step closer in our journey to redeveloping this site to serve the surrounding community and are pleased with the progress made thus far.”

Medical Daycare at the Wallaceburg Site offers outpatient appointments for iron infusions, blood product transfusions, phlebotomy and minor procedures, providing patients with a comfortable space to receive treatment, CKHA officials say.

This newly renovated space will also be able to support expanded services, which will include Urology clinics and small procedure surgical clinics.

Funding for the Medical Daycare renovation project was provided by the provincial government’s Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund (HIRF).

“CKHA’s Medical Daycare service offers outpatient appointments for infusion therapy and minor procedures, and typically services oncology patients, obstetric patients and patients referred by their family physician,” said Dr. Pervez Faruqi, Chief of Staff, CKHA, in a media release.

“We are pleased to open this updated and modern space which will enhance the delivery of safe, high quality care at this site.”

To meet the needs of health care delivery for years to come, CKHA has assembled a comprehensive redevelopment plan for its Wallaceburg Site.

The Wallaceburg Site Redevelopment Project will see a modernized health care facility for the community, anchored by a 24/7 Emergency Department, 6 Medicine Beds including a Palliative Care Bed, Diagnostic Imaging (X-ray and Ultrasound) and Laboratory services, hospital officials added.

“CKHA’s Wallaceburg Site plays an important role in local healthcare for Wallaceburg and the communities which surround it. The newly renovated Medical Daycare area will offer patients and families a modern, comfortable space to receive treatments and procedures,” said Mary Lou Crowley, President and CEO, CKHA Foundation, in a press release.

“We look forward to partnering with CKHA to help revitalize this site and build a strong foundation for local healthcare in the Wallaceburg area.”
