‘Help For Zambia’ fundraising dinner being held April 15 in Chatham

With the goal of helping build a women’s shelter in Zambia, a local organization is holding a fundraising dinner in Chatham-Kent.

Loads of Love is holding the ‘Help For Zambia’ event on April 15, 2023 at St. Paul’s Congregational Church, located at 450 Park Ave. W. in Chatham, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

“Imagine if you were beaten and controlled, and had no choice but to live with it?” Crystal Krogman, one of the event organizers, told the Sydenham Current.

“What if you knew your child was being sexually abused, but had no power to stop it? Think about the hopelessness and defeat you would feel.”

Krogman added: “‘Help for Zambia’ is a charity under Loads of Love in Chatham, Ontario. We serve vulnerable women and children in Zambia and are in the process of building the only women’s shelter for abused women and teen girls in the area.”

The event features: a chicken dinner, entertainment, silent auction, prize draw and a live auction.

Cost is $40 per person.

Krogman said they are hosting the dinner for approximately 200 people and the proceeds will go toward purchasing
building materials for the shelter.

Any businesses who like to make a monetery donation, or would be willing to donate an item for their auctions/draw, can contact Krogman at 519-436-7482.
