Visibility, Memory, and Intimacy.
These are just a few themes explored in Tether, a new exhibition debuting at the Thames Art Gallery this month.
Everyone is invited to the opening reception on Friday, April 14, at 7 p.m.
Gallery officials say many of the artists in this group exhibition will be in attendance and available to comment on their work, share their stories, and meet the public.
This gathering is a free event and light refreshments will be served.
Tether assembles the work of seven contemporary artists who explore their personal experiences while reflecting on motherhood from diverse perspectives.
Exhibiting artists include April Hickox, Natasha Lan, Jennifer Long, Kelly O’Brien, Theola Ross, Arpita Shah, and Jessica Wohl.
This international group brings together parents of toddlers, children with disabilities, and school-aged youth, who all actively explore their experiences of being or becoming a parent within their practice.
From sewing to filmmaking and photography, this collection of artwork incorporates works produced three decades ago to the current moment.
Participating textile artist Jessica Wahl will also host a free Visible Mending with Patches Workshop on Saturday, April 15, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Thames Art Gallery.

Gallery hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with extended hours on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
