On Thursday April 27, 2023 at 7 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Church Hall in Port Lambton, the K of C Speaker Series is hosting Jessica Riedl from the Casa Colibri organization, which is part of CanadaHelps.
“Jessica travels to the highland communities of Guatemala to serve the under-served Mayan people,” Mike Bechard, Past Grand Knight, told the Sydenham Current.
“Many of these communities were displaced during the civil war (1960-1996). To this day, families work very hard to feed and educate their children. Since 2011, Jessica has volunteered on professional teams to bring healthcare, vitamin supplementation and health teaching to these remote communities.”
The event is free and people are encouraged to attend to learn more about the situation in Guatemala.
