Chatham-Kent Victim Services is kicking off their Spring 2023 volunteer recruitment.
Victim Services provides confidential, immediate emotional support to those impacted by crime, tragedy, or trauma in the community.
“Victim Services is looking to recruit people of all ages and all backgrounds as Community Crisis Responders who provide emotional support to people in their most painful moments and refer to other community resources that assist them on their healing journey,” Victim Services officials said in a media release.
“For example, Victim Services might be called to support a family who has just been informed that a loved one has died. Our Crisis Responders can be on-scene to offer immediate emotional support.”
Requirements to be a Crisis Responder:
– 18 Years of Age (Minimum)
– Valid Driver’s License and access to a vehicle with adequate insurance
– Cell phone and email
– Completed Police Vulnerable Sector Check
– Commitment to 48-hours of on-call shifts per month
– Completion of mandatory training
This Spring, Chatham-Kent Victim Services will offer their training class on Saturday May 6 and Sunday May 7 in-person from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Both training days are mandatory.
