As the world celebrated Earth Day on April 22, 2023, the Sydenham Field Naturalists braved the brisk drizzly morning to clean up Crothers Park in Wallaceburg, focusing on Running Creek.
“Nine volunteers teamed together to clean the creek’s shoreline and fished out plastic from the waterway,” organizers said in a media release.
“They filled several garbage bags and accumulating bulky items including large planks of wood.”
Organizers added: “The Sydenham Field Naturalists would like to take this time to thank those who faced the temperamental weather and slippery slopes. They gave nature a helping hand and our local waterfowl, reptiles, amphibians and other aquatic animals a tidy place to reside.”
