Gateway Casinos and Entertainment announced on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 that two more locations were re-opening as part of their phased plan, which began on Saturday.

Cascades Casino Chatham and Playtime Casino Hanover were set to re-open 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2023.

“All slots and e-tables will be available for customers to enjoy,” casino officials said, adding that Table Games at Cascades will open as regularly scheduled at 3 p.m. and Match Eatery and Public House in Chatham will open at 4 p.m.

Casino officials said a limited menu will be available for the evening.

“Please watch the website and Facebook pages for more details,” casino officials added.

“We will continue to re-open our businesses in Ontario over the coming days. Please visit the Gateway property websites or social channels for the most up to date information. We look forward to welcoming our customers and employees back.”

As previously reported, casino officials said a “cyber security incident” closed all Gateway Casinos across Ontario, including the Cascades Casino in Chatham.

A statement from Gateway Casinos and Entertainment on Monday, April 17, 2023 stated the sites would remain closed as they worked to restore their IT systems.

“Over the weekend, we detected a cyber security incident and closed our operations in Ontario,” casino officials stated on April 17, 2023.

“We have retained third-party cyber professionals who are working 24/7 to help us restore the IT environment. Our upmost concern is the protection of personal data and information.”

At the time, casino officials said they did not have any information indicating that the incident involved any compromise of personal data.

However, casino officials said they were set to notify the relevant privacy officials and gaming regulators of the incident.
