Man arrested for intimate partner violence

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 9:39 a.m., a man attended the Ontario Court of Justice on Grand Avenue West in Chatham and was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

The warrant was related to a criminal harassment investigation.

The man also faced additional charges for a breach of a release order investigation reported on April 15, 2023.

The 27-year-old Chatham man is currently charged with assault, criminal harassment, and three counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.

He was released with conditions and a future court date of June 6, 2023.

Man arrested for intoxicated in a public place

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 4:44 p.m., police responded to a restaurant on Third Street in Chatham for a disturbance.

Upon arrival, police located the man intoxicated and unable to care for himself.

The 57-year-old Chatham-Kent man was transported to police headquarters and held until sober.

Woman arrested for theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 6:40 p.m., police responded to a theft investigation at a business on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.

Police learned the woman entered the business, filled a bag with merchandise and left without paying for the items.

With the assistance of surveillance video and witness descriptions, the woman was located near King Street and Fifth Street.

The merchandise was recovered and returned to the store.

The 31-year-old Chatham woman was charged with theft and possessing stolen property.

She was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of May 29, 2023.
