Youths arrested for assault with a weapon

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 7:53 p.m., police responded to Park Avenue West in Chatham for an assault with a weapon investigation.

Police learned two sisters engaged in an argument that escalated when they began assaulting each other.

One youth used a steak knife, causing a minor laceration.

The other used a metal platter resulting in a minor contusion.

The 15-year-old female youth was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon.

She was transported to police headquarters and released to a family member with conditions and a future court date.

The 17-year-old female youth was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon.

She was released to the mother with a future court date.

Man arrested for impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On May 4, 2023, at 12:31 a.m., police observed a vehicle on Park Avenue West in Chatham driving erratically and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

The driver did not stop and continued until he arrived at his residence.

When speaking with the driver, the officer believed him to be under the influence of alcohol.

The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

Once at headquarters, the man refused to provide a suitable breath sample.

The 47-year-old Chatham man was charged with flight from police, impaired driving and refusing to comply with a breath demand.

He was released with conditions and a future court date of June 5, 2023.
