Over 600 people registered and participated in this year’s Hike for Hospice event that ran from May 1 – 7.
People had the option of hiking Mud Creek Trail throughout the week or attending the in-person event on Sunday.
With everyone’s support, over $150,000 was raised to provide end-of-life care including residential hospice care, care coordination and grief and bereavement support to local families at no cost to them.
“We are so thankful to the hikers and the donors for all they do to support our hospice families,” said Ginny Hawken, Special Event Chair for the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation Board of Directors, in a media release.
“It was so touching to see so many people walking together on the trail and all the memorial signs are just a reminder of the impact Hospice has made in our community over the past 7 years.”
Many workplaces from across Chatham-Kent participated in our Corporate Challenge as well.
The winning team was Hopkins Hikers from Hopkins Canada from Blenheim.
Honourable mentions go to Battery Boy, Kent & Essex Mutual Crusaders, Hub Hikers, Maple Mutuals and TekSavvy Trailblazers.
This was the 7th year for the Hike for Hospice event and since it’s inception in 2017, has raised over $785,000.
Battery Boy returned as our title sponsor and additional sponsor support was provided by MicroAge/McBusiness Solutions, JMRD Watson Wealth Management Group, the Chatham Lions Club and Teksavvy.
