Police: Drugs, impaired driving, B&E’s in Chatham

Man charged with impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 1 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol initiated a traffic stop on Michener Road in Chatham.

Through investigation, the officer believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was also found to be in possession of suspected hydromorphine.

The 38-year-old Chatham man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit and drug possession.

He was released pending a future court date of June 1, 2023.

Break and enters in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime yesterday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. unknown suspects forced their way into a home on Lark Street causing about $300 damage.

Once inside, the suspects stole jewelry, cash and family documents.

Total value of the theft has been estimated at approximately $2,000.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime yesterday between 12:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. unknown suspects forced their way into a home on Riverview Line.

Once inside, the suspects stole jewelry, US silver dollar and TOPPS baseball cards.

Total value of the theft has been estimated at approximately $10,000.
