Police: Theft, assault, impaired driving

Theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Police were called to a grocery store on St. Clair Street at approximately 4:30 yesterday.

A 28-year-old Chatham woman was charged with Theft, possession and assault after she left the store, failing to pay for a bag of groceries and assaulting an employee after the property was retrieved.

The woman was later released from custody with a future court date of June 26, 2023 to answer to the charges.

Man arrested for impaired operation

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, officers responded to a call of an impaired driver on Richmond Street in Chatham.

A 41-year-old Chatham man was located and arrested for impaired operation, he was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters for breath tests, both resulting in twice the legal limit.

He was lodged at Chatham-Kent Police until sober and later released with a future court date to answer to the charge.
