Police: GPS tracks stolen vehicle, resisting arrest, impaired driving

Man and woman arrested with stolen vehicle

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 12:19 p.m., police were advised a stolen vehicle reported to Windsor Police Service earlier in the morning was tracked to an address in Mill Street East in Tilbury by GPS.

An officer attended the area and located the vehicle in a business parking lot.

The officer found a man and a woman asleep inside, and they were arrested.

Officers confirmed both were bound by release orders not to associate with one another.

The man was also wanted on three outstanding warrants held by Windsor Police Service, Halton Regional Police and The Ontario Provincial Police.

The 33-year-old Windsor man was charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 and failing to comply with a release order.

He was released to Windsor Police Service with conditions and a future court date of August 21, 2023.

The 34-year-old Windsor woman was charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 and failing to comply with an undertaking.

She was released with conditions and a future court date of August 14, 2023.

The vehicle was towed, and the owner was notified.

Man arrested for resisting arrest

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 1:34 p.m., police responded to suspicious activity at Memorial Park in Tilbury.

Police located a man and instructed him to leave the park under the authority of the Trespass to Property Act after citizens voiced concerns.

When the man refused to leave, officers attempted to arrest him under that authority.

The man resisted arrested but was eventually taken into custody.

The 44-year-old Merlin man was charged with resisting arrest and released with conditions and a future court date of August 21, 2023.

Woman arrested for impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 6:25 p.m., police received information about a possible impaired driver.

Details of the vehicle and the driver were provided to the police.

Police located the vehicle on Queen Street in Chatham and conducted a traffic stop.

The driver was believed to be under the influence of alcohol, and she was arrested.

She was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

The 36-year-old Chatham woman was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

She was released with conditions and a future court date of August 11, 2023.
