An early morning house fire in Chatham is under investigation.
“Pumper 1, Pumper 2, Ladder 2, Rescue 2 responded 127 Wellington Street East, Chatham to a residential structure fire at 3:23 a.m. Saturday morning,” fire officials say.
“When crews arrived, they reported flames coming from first floor windows. Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the fire on the first floor. They continued to work on the second story to pull ceiling and gain access to a deep-seated fire that had spread into the attic.”
Chatham-Kent EMS and Chatham-Kent Police were on scene assisting fire crews.
No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported, fire officials say.
Chatham-Kent Fire Investigators are currently on scene.
The damage estimate is unknown and the sause is under investigation, fire officials added.
