Investigation continues after a house fire just outside of Wallaceburg

The damage estimate is unknown and the cause is under investigation, after an early morning house fire on Friday, September 22, 2023, just outside of Wallaceburg.

“Crews from Station #3 – Wallaceburg, Wallaceburg Volunteers, Station #2 – Chatham and Station #5 – Tupperville responded to 27957 St. Clair Rd. Wallaceburg to a residential structure fire at 3:19 a.m. (Friday) morning,” fire officials said in a media release.

“When crews arrived, they reported flames coming from first floor windows. Crews were able to quickly knock down the fire on the first floor. Work was then done by crews to make sure the fire did not extend into second storey or attic.”

Pumper 3, Ladder 2, Pumper 5, Tanker 5, and Rescue 5 were all on scene, fire officials added.

Chatham-Kent EMS and Chatham-Kent Police were also on scene assisting fire crews.

“One person was transported to hospital by CK EMS but has since been released,” fire officials added.

Chatham-Kent Fire Investigators were also on scene.

No further information will be released, fire officials say.
