Police: Assault charge, intoxicated in public

Man arrested for assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Thursday September 21st, 2023, police responded to an address on Grand Avenue West, in the city of Chatham in response to a landlord tenant dispute.

Police learned, a previous tenant who was recently evicted was attempting to retrieve items when a disagreement occurred and soon after escalated.

The accused attempted to lunge at building employees and refused to leave when asked to do so.

Police attended and the 38-year-old Chatham man was charged with one count of assault.

He was transported to police headquarters and later release with conditions and a future court date of October 23, 2023.

Male arrested for being intoxicated in public

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Thursday September 21, 2023 at approximately 9 p.m., police received a call regarding a suspicious man in the area of Wallace Street, in the city of Wallaceburg.

Prior to arrival, police learned an unknown male was knocking at the complaints door and was not leaving when advised he was at the wrong address.

The complaint believed the male to be intoxicated based on his behaviour and in possession of a bottle of alcohol.

Police arrived in the area and located the man.

Police quickly identified the male and determined he was severely intoxicated.

The 37-year-old Wallaceburg man was taken into custody and issued a Provincial Offence Notice for being Intoxicated in a Public Place.

He was transported to police headquarters and held until he was sober.
