Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) is welcoming Angelo Ligori and Christina Mel to the organization’s Board of Directors.
Ligori and Mel assumed their posts at the October 5, 2023 Board meeting, hospital officials say.

Ligori was born in Italy and grew up in Leamington, Ontario where he met his high school sweetheart Rosella, who he has been married to for 42 years.
He spent his early years working on farms picking fruits and vegetables before pursuing a career in engineering.
With 45 years of manufacturing experience, Ligori spent his engineering career at Shell, BASF and Greenfield Global.
He moved to Chatham in 2005 and assumed the role of Plant Manager at Greenfield Global where he oversaw 70 people and a $50-million budget.
After plant operations, he remained as a Business Development Advisor until his retirement this year.
He is passionate about the Chatham-Kent community and has participated in a number of community initiatives such as the United Way Harvest Run and spearheading the Thames River Trail, hospital officials say.
Ligori is also a YMCA spin instructor and founder of Angelo’s Gardens.
“On behalf of CKHA’s Board of Directors, we are pleased to welcome Mr. Ligori. His valuable skillset and passion for the Chatham-Kent community will be a great addition to the Board and our mission of guiding CKHA in the delivery of best practice care,” said Deb Crawford, Chair, CKHA Board of Directors, in a media release.

Mel was born and raised in Wallaceburg, Ontario.
She holds a Bachelor of Science with a specialization in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Western Ontario as well as a Graduate Certificate in Retirement Residence Management.
For the past decade, she has held positions on a variety of committees in the healthcare field.
Currently, Mel works closely with seniors in the community as General Manager of a Retirement Residence.
“We are delighted to welcome Ms. Mel to our Board of Directors. Her knowledge of the health system and experience in the retirement sector will be a valued addition to our Board and guiding CKHA in its delivery of safe, high quality care, said Crawford.
“It is a priority of the Board to attract members who bring the skills we need to ensure that we can offer guidance to the important work of CKHA administration and staff, and provide oversight on behalf of the communities served by CKHA.”
