The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has released an update on the Dufferin Avenue Reconstruction Project.
“The intersection of McNaughton Avenue and Dufferin Avenue will be closed from Wednesday, November 8 at 7 a.m. to Thursday, November 9 at 7 p.m. to allow for the placement of surface asphalt in the intersection. This closure may be extended up to Saturday November 11 at 7 p.m. due to potential weather-related delays.”
Municipal officials say the posted detour for Highway 40 traffic will include the use of Base Line, Old Glass Road, Mason Street and Arnold Street.
Two lanes of traffic on Dufferin Avenue will remain open from Walnut Drive to the closure at the McNaughton Avenue intersection, Municipal officials added.
“Chatham-Kent is committed to working with Birnam Excavating to maintain a safe and orderly worksite,” Municipal officials added.
“All efforts will be made to reduce the impact on the surrounding areas and businesses. Access to all properties and businesses on Dufferin Avenue will be maintained at all times.
Road work on Dufferin Avenue from McNaughton Avenue to Walnut Drive will be completed in 2023, with restoration to be completed in Spring 2024, Municipal officials say.
