Impaired driving charges laid in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday evening at approximately 7 p.m., police responded to a possible impaired driving complaint on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Police located the vehicle in the area of School Street and Centre Street in Chatham and subsequently conducted a traffic stop.

Officers believed the man driving was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

The male was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

The 42-year-old Chatham man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

He was later released with conditions and a future court date of November 27, 2023.

The vehicle was towed.
