Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 12:36 p.m., police responded to the LCBO on Wellington Street West in Chatham for a theft investigation.
Upon arrival, police learned that the man had entered the store dressed to disguise his identity.
He removed merchandise from the shelves and attempted to leave without paying.
Two Loss Prevention staff members tried to stop him as he attempted to exit.
The man assaulted both members before he was successfully taken into custody.
Officers also learned on June 15, 2023, and October 16, 2023, the man entered into probation orders with conditions prohibiting him from attending the address.
The 26-year-old Chatham-Kent man has been charged with theft, possession of stolen property, wearing a disguise with intent to commit a criminal offence, two counts of failing to comply with a probation order, two counts of resisting arrest, and two counts of assaulting a peace officer.
He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
