Shoplifting investigation at Walmart in Wallaceburg leads to charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 8:49 p.m., police responded to Walmart on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg for a theft investigation.

Police arrived on the scene and discovered the woman removed items from the shelves and attempted to leave the store without paying.

Officers also confirmed the court had released the woman on January 3, 2023, and November 8, 2023, with a condition prohibiting her from leaving her house between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. unless under specific exceptions.

The 26-year-old Chatham-Kent woman has been charged with theft, possession of stolen property and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

She was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
