Impaired driving charges laid following a crash on Highway 40 in Sarnia

Lambton OPP officials allege: On November 25, 2023, at 9:10 a.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified by members of the public of a two-vehicle collision on Churchill line (Highway 40) at Indian Road.

Officers attended and observed an individual attempting to flee the scene.

Officers were able to take the individual into custody, who was identified as a driver involved in the collision.

While speaking with the driver, it became apparent the individual was displaying signs of impairment.

The driver was arrested and refused to comply with the demand of a peace officer.

A 34-year-old Sarnia man has been charged with the following:

– Operation While Impaired,

– Failure or refusal to comply with demand,

– Resist peace officer,

– Dangerous operation and,

– Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code.

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia at a later date.
