Charges laid after a fatal crash back in June near Ridgetown

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Saturday, June 17, 2023, around 1:00 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Victoria Road at Gosnell Line near Ridgetown.

The collision involved two vehicles.

The 32-year-old Chatham woman driver was driving a vehicle containing a 13-year-old passenger on Gosnell Line.

The vehicle collided with another vehicle travelling northbound on Victoria Road.

Unfortunately, the driver of the second vehicle, 60-year-old Barbara Bondy of Chatham, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A 60-year-old passenger in the second vehicle was seriously injured and was transported to London via air ambulance, where she was listed in stable condition.

The 32-year-old woman and the 13-year-old passenger in the first vehicle both received non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, where they received medical attention.

The 32-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with careless driving causing death and two counts of careless driving causing bodily harm.

She has been issued a summons to appear in court on January 30, 2024.
