CKPS wraps up ‘Holiday RIDE’ program

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: The Chatham-Kent Police Service is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the Holiday R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program, which ran from October 1, 2023, to January 1, 2024.

The program, aimed at ensuring road safety during the festive season, has produced the following statistics:

– 10 rides conducted.

– 2,931 vehicles checked.

– 39 roadsides administered.

– 2–3-day warnings issued to 2 individuals

– 1 impaired arrest (only one other impaired arrest related to a motor vehicle collision during the program’s duration)

– 1 Criminal Code other charge

– 1 Liquor License violation

– 7 Highway Traffic Act (H.T.A.) charges

The success of the Holiday R.I.D.E. program was only possible with the support and cooperation of the community.
