The Black Excellence committee, in concert with Buxton’s Next Generation (BNG) and Buxton National Historic Site and Museum are pleased to announce that the nomination portal is open and actively gathering community-wide nominations for the first-ever Black Excellence Awards & Gala (BEA).
Nomination closes on January 10, 2024, and nominees will be announced shortly thereafter.
“We are thrilled to shine a light on the excellences found in our community,” stated Michelle Robbins, Co-chair, and Curator of Buxton National Historic Site and Museum, in a media release.
The awards will celebrate the black community and the greater community in the following categories:
– Female of the year
– Male of the year
– Agriculturalist of the year
– Entrepreneur of the year
– Youth of the year
– Citizen of the year

The celebration and awards will culminate on February 10, 2024, and will be the cornerstone of Chatham Kent’s Black History month.
