Environment Canada issued a wind warning across Chatham-Kent at 8:06 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024, as strong southwesterly winds are expected today.
Forecasters say hazards, include: Wind gusts of 90 to 110 km/h.
The timing is this morning and ending late tonight.
“Exposed areas near Lake Erie will see the strongest wind gusts up to 110 km/h while gusts inland are expected to be in the 80 to 90 km/h range,” forecasters say.
“Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. High winds may result in power outages and fallen tree branches. Motorists, especially in high profile vehicles, may expect hazardous driving conditions on highways subject to strong cross winds.”
