Arrests made after an armed robbery investigation in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 6:36 a.m., police responded to a residence on Wellington Street West in Chatham for a robbery investigation.

Through investigation, police learned the victims returned to the apartment after spending a night out.

Shortly after their return, the two men arrived.

The two men and the victims are known to each other and had spent the evening together.

The two men arrived with firearms and demanded money and other valuable items.

The two men left with the items.

The two men were located on O’Neil Street in Chatham and arrested.

The 21-year-old and the 23-year-old Chatham men were charged with break and enter with the intent to commit robbery, pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a dangerous weapon.

They were transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

As a result of the bail hearing, both men were remanded into custody and transported to the Southwest Regional Detention Center.

Their next court appearance has been scheduled for January 22, 2024.
