Pocketknife found during search in Chatham leads to probation breach

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 8:37 p.m., an officer on patrol located a man highly intoxicated walking on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.

The officer arrested the man.

During a search incident to arrest the officer found a pocketknife in the man’s possession.

The officer learned the man was bound by a Probation Order prohibiting him from possessing weapons.

The 25-year-old Charring Cross man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with a probation order.

He was transported to police headquarters and held until sober.

He was released with conditions and a future court date April 8, 2024.
