Crash on Walpole Island leads to impaired driving charges

Lambton OPP officials allege: On March 27, 2024, at 1 p.m., members of the Walpole Island Police Service (WIPS) were notified of a single-vehicle collision on Brother Road.

Officers attended the scene and, upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the individual was displaying signs of impairment.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP detachment where they provided two samples of breath above the legal limit.

A 41-year-old Walpole Island First Nation man has been charged with the following:

– Operation While Impaired and,

– Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia at a later date.
