Impaired driving charges laid near Thamesville

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 9:23 p.m., police responded to a traffic complaint on Longwoods Road.

Police received information the vehicle was travelling east on Longwoods Road towards Thamesville.

Police located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.

The officer believed the woman driving was under the influence of alcohol and arrested her.

Investigation revealed the woman did not possess a valid driver’s license and was bound by a release order prohibiting her from occupying the driver’s seat of a motor vehicle.

The woman was taken to the Ontario Provincial Police Service for tests.

The 53-year-old Chatham woman was charged with impaired driving, driving a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit, failing to comply with a release order and driving with a suspended license.

She was released with conditions and a future court date of April 22, 2024.
