Impaired driving charges laid in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 5:41 a.m., police responded to the intersection of King Street West and Lacroix Street in Chatham for a traffic complaint.

Reports indicated a vehicle was stopped at the intersection and the driver appeared to be asleep at the wheel.

Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle and believed the driver was under the influence of alcohol and arrested him.

The man was transported to police headquarters for tests.

The 24-year-old Kent Bridge man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

He was released with conditions and a future court date of April 29, 2024.
