Downtown Wallaceburg BIA ‘Clean-Up’ taking place April 27

The Downtown Wallaceburg BIA is inviting residents to gather at the Fountain Park in downtown Wallaceburg at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2024 for a downtown clean-up.

This event is a part of the Chatham-Kent Clean Up Week (formerly Pitch-In) project, taking place April 21 to April 27, 2024.

“The focus of this beautification project is to clean up the ‘Parkland, Greenbelts and Downtown Areas’ throughout the Municipality of Chatham-Kent,” BIA officials said on their website.

“Participation in Chatham-Kent Clean Up Week provides a great opportunity to show civic pride and to create an awareness of the litter concerns that exist in our communities.”

BIA officials added: “Participants are asked to pick up litter and other debris in our parks or downtown areas and put the litter in garbage bags supplied by the Municipality of Chatham-Kent. The participants will deposit the bags of garbage they collect in a designated area at the cleanup location for pick-up.”

Dangerous material should not be handled, participants finding dangerous material should contact the BIA representatives on site for appropriate removal, BIA officials added.

The BIA is asking that participants recycle litter and other items where appropriate.

“Everyone is welcome,” BIA officials say.

“Any participant under the age of 18 must have adult supervision to participate in the project. Gloves and garbage bags will be supplied to the participants. There will be light refreshments, coffee, water and Timbits, provided to the volunteer participants as well.”

Let the BIA know if you are able to attend, and how many volunteers will be participating, by commenting on our social media posts, by sending them a direct message or by emailing wallaceburgbia@live.ca.
