Born in Camden Township on January 13, 1919, daughter of the late Charles and Susan (Moniger) McLure. She was a long time resident of Dresden, but bravely moved to Toronto at age 75. This monumental change in residence enhanced her life and the lives of her immediate family. Ethel was predeceased by her husband J.T.S. (Ted) McVean (d.1987), her siblings Glenna (Russell) Latimer, Jean (Duncan) Cameron and Donald (Evelyn) McLure, as well as every close friend she ever had.

Ethel is survived by son John (Toronto), granddaughter Amanda McVean (Patrick) of Calgary, step grandson Charles (Peggy) McPhail of Ottawa as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ethel was a consummate planner and always executed her plans flawlessly. She was an active member of the Anglican Church and the Library Quilting group while living in Dresden.

Ethel was a highly skilled entertainer who will be remembered for her signature dishes-fried chicken, raspberry and Boston Cream pies and Shrove Tuesday Spanish rice.

Ethel enjoyed life, the colour red, had a quick wit and was gifted with years of insight and wisdom that she shared without hesitation.

Many thanks to all of the folks affiliated with the Meighen Health Centre for their many years of loving and caring support.
