OPP officials allege: The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Chatham Detachment has charged an individual following a collision investigation.
On May 18, 2024, at approximately 9:25 a.m., members of Chatham Detachment received a report of a single-vehicle collision involving a passenger vehicle colliding with reflective delineators and failing to remain at the location on the eastbound Highway 401 near the 71-Kilometer marker, Municipality of Chatham-Kent.
The investigating officer located and stopped the vehicle near the 112-Kilometer marker of the eastbound Highway 401.
While speaking to the driver, the investigating officer observed signs of intoxication from the driver.
The driver was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Chatham OPP Detachment for further testing.
As a result, a 42-year-old Harrow man was charged with:
– Operation while impaired – blood concentration (80 plus)
– Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Chatham on June 10, 2024.
The OPP remind motorists that no amount of alcohol or drug is acceptable to consume and drive.
