Marion Allaer

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Marion (Dostal) Allaer, a cherished wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother on June 2, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. After a courageous battle, surviving three major surgeries over the last two years, it was time for her to rest. Loving wife of her predeceased husband George Allaer, cherished mother of Carl and Lucinda Allaer (David Sidenberg), extraordinary grandmother to Jason Allaer (Danielle Williams), Jeff Allaer (Virginia), Jamie Allaer, William Judson (Elizabeth Judson) and great grandmother to her “little petunia” Ameleeya Judson.

Marion will be missed by her many nieces and nephews that she treasured. Her predeceased sister Olga Patterson and she were inseparable. Marion also had a predeceased young sister, Lillian Dostal. Marion’s parents were Frank Dostal and Mary Kusiak. Marion worked at the Wallaceburg Hospital and after retirement loved volunteering at that hospital’s auxiliary. Marion was a very conscientious and hard worker.

She would take on extra jobs in order to experience travel and adventures with her sister Olga. She loved going out to dine with her husband George and anyone who would take her for her favourite Chinese restaurant. Marion had the loving support of her grandson Jason who helped her remain in the home she loved. She was not shy of trying new things and her grandchildren ensured she had many of said experiences such as talking her into going on a very high roller coaster, an attempt of skate boarding and driving her car through restricted areas.

She loved her “dates” with her granddaughter Jamie who spoiled her. Great grandmother Marion would join in her great granddaughter’s playtime with unapologetic play roles. She always had a beautiful smile and loved life. Marion understood that making the most of life’s moments would help you find joy in everything. A pretty plaque hung in her home that expressed her simple but profound way of living life to the fullest. “Thank goodness for the happy touch of finding joy from nothing much.”

Our family would like to acknowledge the wonderful nurses, support staff and doctors at Chatham Kent Health Alliance. Your compassion will not be forgotten.

The celebration of Marion’s life will be held at the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg on Wednesday, June 5 at 1 PM with visiting from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to the funeral. Interment to follow at Riverview Cemetery. If desired, donations to Pet and Wildlife Rescue Wallaceburg may be left at the funeral home 519.627.3231. Cherished stories and tributes may be left for the family at www.CavanaghFuneralHome.ca.
