Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 10:20 p.m., police responded to Montgomery Drive in Wallaceburg for a disturbance.
Officers learned a verbal argument between the man and the woman escalated when the man assaulted the woman with a steel cooking pan.
During the altercation the man also knocked over furniture onto the woman, who was lying on the floor, and made comments to cause her physical harm.
The assault resulted in injury that required medical attention.
The man fled upon police arrival.
Officers utilized a drone and located the man hiding in a backyard.
At 11:17 p.m., the 45-year-old Wallaceburg man was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing.
He is currently facing the following charges: assault, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and uttering threats.
