Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 6:30 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Queens Line and Merlin Road in Tilbury East Township.
Upon arrival, officers learned the driver had been observed by a witness driving erratically on Highway 401 and exited on Queens Line.
The witness also observed the vehicle in the ditch at the intersection.
The driver left the scene in another vehicle.
Officers located the second vehicle and identified the driver.
The officer believed the man was under the influence of alcohol and arrested him.
He was transported to police headquarters for tests.
The 28-year-old Chatham man was released with conditions and a future court date of June 17, 2024.
He is currently facing the following charges: impaired driving, operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.
He received a 90-day license suspension.
