Chatham man charged after threatening to bomb building, police say

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Chatham man is facing charges after allegedly threatening to bomb a building during a confrontation with security staff, Chatham-Kent police say.

Officers were called to an address on Grand Avenue West shortly after 6 a.m. Friday for a report of threats.

Police say security staff had observed a man attempting to gain entry into vehicles in a parking lot. When security approached him, the man was told to leave the premises. Police say he became verbally aggressive with security and threatened to bomb the building.

A 43-year-old Chatham man with no fixed address was arrested and charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

He was taken to Chatham-Kent police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing.
