Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 10:19 a.m., police responded to a business on St. Clair Street, near McNaughton Avenue for a theft investigation.
Upon arrival officers learned the woman entered the store and removed items from the shelves.
The woman concealed the items on her person and left without making any attempts to pay for the merchandise.
Video surveillance helped identify the woman.
At 11:30 a.m., the woman was located on Wellington Street in Chatham and arrested.
The stolen merchandise was found and seized as evidence.
The 29-year-old Chatham woman was transported to police headquarters, where she was released with conditions and a future court date of July 8, 2024.
She has been charged with theft and possession of stolen property.
