Window broken, cigarettes stolen from a gas station in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On July 22, 2024, at 3:50 a.m., police responded to a gas station on St. Clair Street in Chatham for a security alarm.

Through video surveillance, a man was observed breaking the glass to gain entry.

Once inside the man stole cigarettes.

Officers attended and located a man a short distance away.

After a foot pursuit, the man was taken into custody.

The 24-year-old Raleigh Township man was transported to police headquarters, where he was released with conditions and a future court date of August 19, 2024.

He has been charged with break-and-enter and wear a disguise with intent to commit a criminal offence.
