Thomas Mathew Ruckle passed peacefully at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on August 4, 2024 at the age of 88.
Tom was a proud employee of Union Gas for over 30 years, however he is perhaps best known as a local restauranteur: Dad’s Place and Country Kitchen restaurants in Dresden; Secret Recipes bakery in Sarnia, and Pizza Delight in Chatham, Dresden, Ridgetown, and Grand Bend.
Tom would talk about staff, customers and recipes all of his life.
He loved his family, fishing, Elvis, the Blue Jays and his dog Mitzy.
Tom is survived by his partner, Diane McAdam, children Scott (Karen) Ruckle, Kim (Gerry) Bossy and Kathie (Bob) Kennedy, and siblings, Harry Ruckle, and Doreen (Art) Sole.
Tom had 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He is pre-deceased by parents Fred and Grace Ruckle and brother Richard.
Cremation has taken place and a private burial will occur in Thamesville.
