Lambton OPP officials allege: On August 20, 2024, at approximately 10:17 a.m., the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) requesting a tow on Petrolia Line, west of Forest Road, Enniskillen Township.
Upon arrival, officers spoke to the driver.
The driver informed police that they had been attempting to complete a U-turn when they inadvertently backed into the ditch, subsequently becoming stuck.
During the investigation, Lambton County OPP officers reviewed the driver’s electronic logs and identified several violations.
As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old of London, has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) with the following offences:
– Unsafe move – lane or shoulder
– Drive after 16 hours since last break without 8 hours off (two counts)
The Lambton County OPP would like to remind all CMV operators of the importance of adhering to the regulations surrounding electronic logs. Accurate log-keeping is crucial for ensuring compliance with hours-of-service regulations, which are designed to prevent fatigue-related incidents on the road.
