Update: Arson charge laid after the fire at 99 McNaughton Avenue East in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On August 25, 2024, at approximately 5:49 a.m., emergency crews attended 99 McNaughton Avenue East in Chatham for a structure fire.

The Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue Services, Ontario Fire Marshalls Office and Chatham-Kent Police Criminal Investigation Branch have been actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire.

As a result, a 30-year-old Chatham woman has been arrested and charged with Arson-Disregard for Human Life.

She was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
