Traffic stop in Chatham leads to multiple charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 12 p.m., officers on general patrol conducted a traffic stop on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.

Through investigation, the officers learned the man driving was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in relation to probation violations.

The 32-year-old Chatham man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing.

As a result of the bail hearing, he was remanded into custody until his next video court appearance on September 10, 2024.

He was transported to Southwest Regional Detention Centre.

He is currently facing the following charges: failing to comply with a probation order, failing to comply with a release order, and three counts of failing to attend court.
