Dispute in a vehicle in Chatham Township leads assault charges for a Wallaceburg man

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 7:36 a.m., police responded to Centre Side Road in Chatham Township for a dispute.

Officers learned the man and the woman engaged in a verbal argument while travelling in a vehicle.

When the woman attempted to call the police, a struggled ensured, resulting in the woman being assaulted.

The woman was able to exit the vehicle and contact police.

Further investigation revealed the man was on a conditional sentence order, with a condition prohibiting him from associated with the woman.

The 34-year-old Wallaceburg man was located and arrested.

He was transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing.

He has been charged with two counts of assault.

As a result of the bail hearing, he was remanded into custody and transported to Southwest Regional Detention Centre.

His next court appearance was scheduled for September 19, 2024.
