Assault investigation in Chatham leads to weapons dangerous charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On September 19, 2023, at 8:08 p.m., police responded to a parking lot outside a business on McNaughton Avenue West in Chatham for an assault investigation.

Police learned the victim attempted to speak with the man regarding his parking. The driver responded by spraying the victim with pepper spray and fleeing the area. With the assistance of video surveillance, the man was identified, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On October 1, 2024, at 1:22 a.m., the Ontario Provincial Police advised they had the man in custody.

The 24-year-old Windsor man was transported to police headquarters, where he was released with conditions and a future court date of November 4, 2024. He is currently facing the following charges: possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and assault with a weapon.
