Police deploy K9 Unit and a drone to track suspect after a vehicle was stolen in Thamesville

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On September 15, 2024, the vehicle was reported stolen to the Chatham-Kent Police service from an address on Industrial Road in Thamesville.

On September 18, 2024, the vehicle was observed on Littlejohn Road in Bothwell and on September 19, 2024, the owner of the vehicle observed the vehicle on Tower Road in Bothwell.

The vehicle was recovered on Tower Road after the occupants fled the area.

K9 and the drone were deployed to search the area.

Through investigation, officers used surveillance footage from various locations to identify the individuals involved and sought a warrant for their arrest.

On October 1, 2024, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service assisted the Ontario Provincial Police in locating and arresting one individual in Alvinston, Ontario.

The 37-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was released with conditions and a future court date of October 21, 2024. He has been charged with possession of stolen property.

A second person is also wanted in this matter.
